Here Comes the New Year, reader!

The 2024 Wind Down...
As the count-down continues to wind down and into a New Year, there are many things for which we can be grateful. Other things, not so much. I guess the one thing I am happiest about is that (at 79!) I am still releasing things and doing things and am very happy that my sons and their families are doing well, and my good friends are still glad to see me! What more could I ask for?

What else happened for me in the year 2024?
Well, there is the thing that I found out a few months ago. I am the son of a different father! Yeah. I am still working around that one. At my age, however, it doesn't really mean that much, except that I am excited about meeting members of my new half-family! How many of you have had this revelation later in life?

As many of you know I began a new newsletter, "the starter." This project is aimed toward positivity and inspiration in their many forms. It has 5 offerings in each issue and is released every Monday morning at 8am. The sections include: a quote, an essay, a video, a link to a photographer who has been featured in Shadow & Light Magazine (in its 10th year!), and a link to a poet whose words have moved me over the years. Who knows? In the future I may even include some of my poetry! Here's a link to the latest issue!

I am working on a few new photographic/creativity projects (without glass, of course!) and a new book of my poetry, as well as teaching photography and poetry. I if you are interested in taking any of the classes, let me know. As part of my online family you will receive a pretty darn good discount! The 8 Worst Cameras of 2024

We often comment that nobody really makes bad cameras any more. Some fall short of expectations, sure, and others might have a feature or two that's a bit junky, but an honest-to-goodness bad camera? That's a thing of the past, right?

Tips for Making a Photo Series

The main motivation for my photography has been to describe and share my experiences. I believe this sentiment is common among photographers.
