As we slip and slide into 2024, with a somewhat confusing and frustrating outlook, we seem to be heading into an unformed future. I am as in that mindset as you but I also want you to know that we are in this together. The more we can be positive about our own lives and if we stay close to people of like minds, we will get through this. It will be a challenge, both personal and spiritual. We can do this!
I noticed by the stats of the last issue of The Journal, that you clicked on individual items a lot more than ever! Does that mean you don't need the graphic connection of images and words. If so, let me know. Although, maybe I should just let the stats tell me what you want.
Also, on the positive side of things, I received a good number of subscriptions to my newer project, "the starter." In light of that, I will leave the info for that Substack project for one more issue. (below)
For me, personally, in the coming year, I plan on saying "no" more. Many times in the last year I said "yes" way too many times. That left me in a very confused state-of-mind. This year it will be yes to projects that truly interest me and add to my personal and professional growth. I will also be doing a bit of work on both the Shadow & Light Magazine and the Tim Anderson Studio sites. I didn't feed them very well, last year and they aren't happy about that! Are you with me on this?
I also plan on creating more products that will be made available exclusively for for readers and subscribers. Stay tuned for that info!
Oh. That thing about the son of a different father... I will be meeting a cousin from that side of the family in March. Wish me luck!
One more thing: At the end of each future issue of The Journal, I will feature a link to an article that has been published by someone else other than Shadow & Light Magazine (SLM). This is an effort to "spotlight' SLM's alumnus who are out-and-about. Congratulations, Monica Deneven for being Publisher's Choice for this issue!

Instagram is creating its own video editing app
Instagram announced that it is launching its own free video editing app named Edits. The move makes sense for a platform that's been pushing video content for quite some time, yet lacked any refined editing tools. The timing, however, is interesting, as it coincided with the ban on a very similar free editing app, CapCut.

One of those is depth of field, and another is the movement of the subject matter that occurs while the shutter is open. Here, I will discuss depth of field.
