Early Entry for the Black & White Issue continues...

As usual, we will make it very easy for you to enter. The Early Entry Fee is only $20 for up to 10 images. You are specially eligible for this Early Entry Fee because you either subscribe to the magazine and/or our other newsletters. This call-for-entry will not go out to the general photography audience, world-wide, until the release of the August/September issue of Shadow & Light Magazine.

Basic rules are VERY easy: only black & white (NO tinting), taken in the last three years, photographically based, etc. Complete guidelines and entry via PayPal are available on the site, here.

* My next show will be under the auspices of the New Mexico Cancer Center. It is a benefit for the Center. The theme of this show is: Movers and Shakers – Works by Artists Who Teach, Lead and Inspire. This event is very well attended and sales can be brisk. There are usually around 400 pieces from 20+ artists covering a wide range of media. Show dates are August 23-November 19, 2021.

Developing a Creative Photo Book
|
Making a book at times can be overwhelming, and a very different experience & skill set than making original works of art. This book workshop is designed to fill that gap, allowing the inspiration of other photo books to guide and inform the process from start to finish.
|
The goal of this workshop is to create a book-dummy, the real first step to publishing an art book or monograph. We will discuss each artist’s vision, mission and objectives for publication, and then to gain an understanding of how these conceptual aspects translate into a book object.

Adobe Releases Major Photoshop Update With Sky Replacement Enhancements
Adobe has added two popular Photoshop desktop features (Magic Wand Tool and the Healing Brush) to the iPad version of the popular photo editing software. Collector makes $450,000 profit on rare camera and lenses
A remarkably shrewd collector has made $450,000 by selling a rare Leica film camera and lenses that he bought two years ago for just $24,000.

The almost half millon-dollar outfit consisted of the rare black Leica IIIg, along with a Leitz Summarit 50mm f/1.5 and Leitz Elmarit 90mm f/2.8 lens (both also in black) and a black Leicavit base plate with integral rapid winder.

How Two of My Images Grew Into a 55-foot-wide Mural
Do you ever see something you want to take a photo of, “some day”? Something, maybe, you see all the time and plan to eventually get around to taking pictures of it? A unique lonely tree in an open field? Poppies waving in the breeze? A neat old building? A beautiful mountain range? And then, the unimaginable happens: the tree falls down, the field of poppies get crushed in a hail storm, that neat old building gets demolished. Or, that beautiful mountainside burns in a massive wildfire.
