Happy Mother's Day!
Since I learned about the other family, I have been inundated with texts, loaded with images and descriptions about them, plus streams of photos about cousins, as well! That is way too much information. I will sent a note to my contact and let her know that I can't assimilate that much information... all (seemingly) at once. I am definitely not ready to move on to extended family!

The May/June 2025 issue of Shadow & Light Magazine is shaping up. So far, in this issue we have Marky Kauffmann (image: above), Jody Miller, Travis Broesche, and Jay Lee. A couple additional portfolios are being considered. I will also be offering a review of "Call Me Lola," photographer Loli Kantor's compelling search for a family that is both fictional as well as real. Steve Immel takes us on an excursion of his Roadside Attractions and Eric McCollum ventures into new territory in his pairing with poet Ken White. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Our very popular "Single Image Showcase" wraps up the 2025 series. There will also be a call-for-entry-for an exciting event to be held in Santa Fe! Interested???? Want to subscribe to Shadow & Light: click here for only $10/annual-6 issues.

Many of you know about one of my newer projects, "the starter." This is a weekly newsletter (with Substack) that focuses on positivity. The newsletter contains 5 sections: a quote, something positive to read, something positive to watch, something positive to view and something poetic to read.
|
For the "View here..." section, Jody Miller is featured. It is released each Monday at 8am. You can subscribe for free or choose to help support my efforts by subscribing. Your choice. You can view the most recent issue (with Jody), here. You won't be able to access this link until tomorrow, 8am, after it is released. Thanks for taking a look!

By the way, Color It Red will return for the November/December 2025 issue. (Christmas) This very popular call-for-entry (CFE) is in its 13th appearance. We are bringing this series back because of consistent requests from many of our readers. There will be more about this iconic series, later. If you want to dispense with the fine print and have done this before, click here to sign up. I will be working on the Shadow & Light Magazine site this next week with additional information.

Are cameras TSA approved?
Summer is nearly upon us for those in the Northern Hemisphere, and with that comes travel and holidays for many. You likely want to document those vacations at least somehow, which could mean bringing a camera along. If you're traveling by plane, that may raise some questions or concerns about whether you're allowed to bring your camera with you. As seasoned photographers and travelers, we've got the facts on what's possible for traveling with your cameras.
