Moving forward…

I have read more than a few articles and posts about what might be done as moving forward with our businesses in the future. The results vary. Some espouse reconfiguring extensively. Others suggest, with some frustration, letting it all go. Some will strive to do all they can to secure more business, maybe even switch their template.

Since most of my business is conducted online I am going to work harder and better at servicing current customers, before I do anything drastic. Many of my friends know that I believe strongly in what I call multiple sources of income (MSI). One of mine is my photography publication, Shadow & Light Magazine.

After almost 6 years of publishing this magazine, I am working on some major changes. I want to start with updating the design. Then I want to work on distribution; how the magazine is delivered to its subscriber base. My staff and I have come up with many ideas for contemporary changes and are tweaking them every day. There are a couple of other things we have in mind and we will be reaching out to a few long-time subscribers and friends with like knowledge to ask their opinions. These changes may not take full effect until the sometime this summer.

Multiple sources of income is the future

The other main area of my MSI is in building WordPress sites. It is called WordPress 101. They are basic sites built to give their owners presence in these days of world-wide marketing. They are beginner sites that I build and design initially and then turn them over to owners after training, etc.

What I plan to do here to create more business is to serve my clients more efficiently and in a better time frame. As a rule the better I serve them the more likely they are to refer me.

The last part of my MSI that I want to update in the short term are in my own sites: Tim Anderson Studio (personal) and Cygnet Press (publishing). Each need attention. I am always suggesting to my 101 clients that they need to regularly update and add new, fresh content. Do as I say, and not as I do, right?

This challenge will not be resolved quickly. It will, rather be addressed on a daily basis with a production schedule, and weekly reviews.
